CHAIRMAN

James Hobbs is a senior executive with over thirty years of experience in the healthcare, diagnostic and medical device industry. His business background demonstrates a successful track record starting up and managing companies, commercialization of innovative medical technologies.

Mr. Hobbs received is currently Chairman of the Board at ZyCal Bioceuticals Healthcare Company, Inc., a Managing Partner at Graylyn Associates, Inc. He was also a Principal at Parametrics Medical – Orthobiologics and regenerative medicine, providing the latest advancements in allograft tissue, biologic implants, and regenerative medicine designed to enhance surgical outcomes and improve patient quality of life.  Prior, Mr. Hobbs was President of Johnson and Johnson Diagnostic before he launched Geneca Diagnostic as its first CEO, which became the premier neurological diagnostic company now owned by Quest Diagnostics.

JAMES J. SCAFFIDI, D.N.M.C., B.SC
CEO & PRESIDENT

James J. Scaffidi is CEO & President of ZyCal Bioceuticals, holds a degree in Biochemistry, with 3 years of graduate-level research in enzymology and protein purification, has published several peer-reviewed clinical studies and trials, and is currently completing his doctorate in natural medicine.

James has 30 years of sales, marketing and management experience in pharmaceuticals, diagnostic and allograft tissue business for the repair and healing of the musculoskeletal system, biologic products for regenerative healing.

Prior to launching ZyCal James held a senior management position serving as Marketing Director and Medical Writer for the inventor and expert in spine biomechanics, Dr. Manohar Panjabi from Yale School of Medicine.

HYUN D. KIM, PHD

Dr. Kim received his Pd.D. in Medical Science, completing a thesis on Polymeric delivery systems and scaffolds for bone growth and morphogenic factors from Brown University, and his masters and undergraduate studies focused on Biomedical Engineering.

Dr. Kim brings scientific expertise in therapeutic areas of regenerative medicine (PRP & DMB), orthopedics (bone, cartilage, tendon repair, osteoporosis) inflammation (arthritis) and neurology. He has managed the preclinical/clinical development and participated in Phase I-III meetings with the FDA.

Dr. Kim has led multiple teams in development focusing on regenerative therapies that include:

  • Headed product development of musculoskeletal (orthopedic, anti-inflammatory) peptide and protein delivery for treating osteoarthritis and cartilage repair.
  • Developing protein-small molecule conjugates and PEGylated proteins as systemic targeted therapy for osteoporosis.
  • Injectable fracture repair resulting in IND filing for BMP-2 injectable fracture repair, including injectable proteins and delivery systems for local osteoporosis therapy and tendon repair (BMP-2 and BMP-12).
  • Injectable and implantable biomaterials and delivery systems for BMP proteins involved in bone and cartilage repair.

1939-2020

Dr. Tripodi was an essential contributor and Board of Directors member realizing the potential of Cyplexinol®, as an oral Bone and Cartilage Stimulating Protein supplement.

He held a PhD in Immunochemistry from Temple University.

During his 20 years with Johnson & Johnson, he held various senior positions in Technological and Strategic Planning including the Director of Biotechnology.

Served on Scientific Advisory Boards of the State University of New York at Stony Brook and the University of Utah, as well as the Biotechnology Advisory Committee for the Department of Commerce and Vice Chairman of the NJ Commission on Cancer Research (Governor’s Panel).

Dr. Tripodi served as Vice President of Research and Development at Thera Kos, developer of photopheresis device UVAR. He has published extensively in the fields of immunochemistry and immunology, and holds several patents, for both drugs and devices.

WILLIAM FRANKE, PHD

Dr. Franke was the Vice President of Research, Development, Quality and Regulatory Affairs at Unilever/Lipton corporation.

Dr. Franke later went to become the Director of the Center for Advanced Foods at Rutgers University and is an expert in product development and food regulations, with a specialty in functional foods and nutraceuticals.

He is a co-principal investigator for a U.S. Department of Defense contractor to develop combat rations to improve the physical and mental performance of soldiers under stress.

Featured in Use of Dietary Supplements published by Institute of Medicine of the national Academies.

He is a former member of the NAS/IOM Food Forum and served on the IOM expert Committee on Evaluation of the Addition of Ingredients New to Infant Formula.

He also served as a member of the board of the Cancer Institute of New Jersey and was recently elected a Fellow of the Institute of Food Technologists.

Dr. Franke founded Heart Blend Foods, LLC, research, and development company specializing heart-healthy foods.

ADAM PERLMAN, MD
