Chairing the Board of Directors is Mr. James Hobbs, currently President of Athro Kinetics Inc. and managing partner of Graylyn Associates. Mr. Hobbs’s twenty-five years of executive management experience includes; CEO of Endospine Kinetics (acquired), CEO of Luxtec Corp. (acquired) and CEO of Genica Pharmaceuticals (acquired). Additionally, Mr. Hobbs served as President of Johnson & Johnson Professional Diagnostics, a division of J&J.
JAMES J. SCAFFIDI
CEO, President, and Executive Director
Mr. Scaffidi founded ZyCal in February 2006 after working in the healthcare industry for nearly 20 years. He has managed several business units, and has experience in sales, sales management, marketing, operations and product launches with Procter & Gamble as well as other biotechnology, diagnostic, and orthopedics companies. Mr. Scaffidi has been involved with and responsible for numerous product launches, strategic marketing, business development planning, and repositioning flagship brands for successful growth. His ability to foster clear strategic visions, communicate plans and execute strategies, has led to successful new product launches, capitalization on new business opportunities and reversal of flat and declining brands into fortunes. Mr. Scaffidi received his BS degree from City University of New York in Biochemistry and completed three years of research in enzymology and protein purification.
JOHN MORRIS
Director of Operations
Mr. Morris has more than 20 years’ experience in the development and manufacturing of biologically active protein complexes including Cyplexinol®, both in the oral and surgical grade forms. Mr. Morris’ experiences include; R&D technology transfer, product development as well as production launch implementation. Mr. Morris worked with Dr. Nelson Scarborough, pioneering and developing many of the surgical forms of Cyplexinol® used today by orthopedic surgeons for bone and cartilage growth. Mr. Morris has written and been awarded 14 patents for; orthopedic and spinal implant products, instrumentation development, and processes flow design. Mr. Morris received his Professional Management Certificate from the American Management Association.
WILLIAM FRANKE, PHD
Dr. Franke has twenty-eight years of senior management experience at Unilever. He was Vice President for R&D, Quality and Regulatory Affairs at Unilever’s Lipton division. He then served as Vice President for Scientific and Regulatory Affairs, reporting to the President, CEO and Chairman, and was responsible for nutritional science for all of Unilever’s United State businesses. Dr. Franke founded Heart Blend Foods, LLC, a research and development company that specializes in the development of heart-healthy foods. Dr. Franke is Associate Director of the Center for Advanced Foods at Rutgers University and is an expert in the area of product development and food regulations, especially as it related to functional foods and nutraceuticals.
RICHARD GARIAN, DC
Dr. Garian is a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP) in Massachusetts, with 30 years of clinical and scientific research experience. Dr. Garian’s experience includes post-graduate studies in the field of biochemistry at the University of New Hampshire, nutritional studies at the Harvard School of Public Health and over 300 hours in chiropractic orthopedics. Dr. Garian is a founding fellow of the American Back Society and a founding member of the Spine Managed Care.
NELSON SCARBOROUGH, PHD
Dr. Scarborough has extensive experience in the development of orthobiologic products for bone and soft tissue repair. Dr Scarborough was a pioneer in the development of BMP-complex products for surgery before becoming the director of advanced research at Covidien. He earned his PhD in Pharmacology at the Medical College of Georgia and a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry at Furman University.
